Safe Winter Trips

Winter Trip Safety in Snow Country

Winter Snow PlowThe concept of holidaying in a snow covered location seems like a great fun idea for the family.

But the reality of it can be a bit like frostbite waiting to happen.

For anyone who is organizing a white wintertime trip, here is a vacation tip on the best way to get pleasure from your vacation without being snowed in with complications.

Pack a winter weather driving safety kit;

  • Winter Safety Kitbag of sand, salt or cat litter
  • a snow shovel and brush
  • traction mats or pads
  • an ice scraper
  • pair of booster cables
  • a flood light
  • warning flares
  • a cell phone
  • warm boots and gloves
  • blankets

If your going on a winter vacation you definitely want to be comfortable.

Wearing winter clothesThis may well seem like a lot to bring along but whenever you plan to drive out in the snow on a cold winters day, it is actually safer to take these precautions.

Rather than carrying a few thick coats or jackets, decide on extra sweaters and thermal wear which can be layered on for warmth.

By doing this you can take off or put on layers depending on the temperature conditions your experiencing.

Take ones mobile charger or an additional phone battery to keep connected to the outside world.

Winter can be enjoyable but you must respect Mother Nature and plan for what it can hand out.

Wintertime Wind Fact

Why does wind make us come to sense cold?

As soon as the wind blows across your uncovered surface of our skin, it draws warmth away from our bodies.

As soon as the wind picks up velocity, it draws further heat away, so if your skin is exposed to the wind, one's body will cool a lot more quickly than it would have on a calm day.
